DIY Bathroom Jars

Make sure you like Wow! What Great Ideas! on Facebook and follow Wow! What Great Ideas! on Pinterest for updates every time we find interesting information or an amazing tutorial!

Supplies:
• pickle jars - or other glass jars with lids
• Americana multi-surface paint - we used the colors pumpkin patch, pink cadillac, coastal waters
• curio knobs (tim holtz ones found at michaels)
• paint brushes
• E-6000 glue

Steps:
• Put pickle jars and lids through a couple cleaning cycles in the dishwasher
• Pick colors and gave each lid about 4-5 coats. (Try a quick coat of grey primer - the words on the lids can be a pain to cover completely)
• Put them aside and let them air cure for 7 days
• Take the bottom screw out of the curio knobs and use the E-6000 to glue the knobs to the center of each lid.
• Let that dry for another 24 hours and then they are ready to be used

Recycle T-Shirts into Tote Bags!

Make use of those T-shirts you have and don't wear anymore - turn them into a tote bag!

These t-shirt totes are strong and washable! Use for groceries, library books, gym clothes or pool supplies, just to name a few!

You Need:
  1. Heavy weight cotton T-shirt (heavy weight fabric & Youth size XL or Adult S or M work best)
  2. 3- 5 straight pins
  3. Pencil or pen
  4. Dinner plate
  5. Scissors
  6. Sewing machine

How To:
  • Choose an old t-shirt and smooth it flat on a table.
  • Use scissors to cut and remove the sleeves---make sure you leave the seam in place---this keeps your tote strong!
  • Position a plate about halfway over the neck opening of the shirt.
  • Trace the plate with your pencil or pen. This will be your cutting line to create the opening for your tote bag.
  • Cut along the traced line with the scissors.
  • Turn the T-shirt inside out and pin the bottom of the T-shirt-- along the hem--- closed.

Felt Fortune Cookies

Make these adorable felt fortune cookies for Valentine's Day!

You Need:
  • Felt
  • Ribbon
  • Fabric shears
  • Wire cutters
  • Craft glue

Steps:

Step 1
Using fabric shears, cut a 4 1/2-inch-diameter circle from a piece of felt. Cut a piece of matching ribbon slightly shorter than 4 1/2 inches. Using wire cutters, cut a piece of floral wire slightly shorter than the length of ribbon.

Step 2
Using craft glue, affix the wire to the middle of the felt circle. Glue ribbon on top, covering the wire. Let dry 30 minutes.

Step 3
Fold the felt circle in half, using the wire as a guide, so ribbon is inside cookie. Next, angle the sides toward each other, bending the wire at its halfway point and forming a fortune-cookie shape, as shown.

Step 4
Assemble the fortune cookies. Carefully peel back one flap of the felt cookie, and insert a paper fortune and a few candies. Fold the flap back over to close cookie around contents.
